For those of you who follow the American Politics lately (and that is pretty much all of you, since our Aussie media coverage didn’t give us much choice) this video I found over at Jacob Morgans blog might interest you.

President Elect Obama is using You Tube to address the nation – weekly. I think you can say that You Tube is becoming more of a media channel rather than some teenage hangout. Why wouldn’t you use it – it’s free!!

Check out the first video and more information at Jacob’s Blog.

Article Marketing Secrets – 6 Creative Article Marketing Ideas to Get More Traffic!

November 11, 2008 by admin

By Fabian Tan

Want to get more traffic from your articles? If you want to ‘leverage’ your articles for fast and furious business growth, use these unorthodox tips to detonate a traffic explosion:

1) You can create a membership site where you provide say 20 niche related articles per month. The articles you have will last you for 6 months. Then all you need to do is outsource or write another 120 niche related articles to fill another 6 months worth. You can charge a fee of say $7 a month for this and get lots of front-end sign-ups.

2) Create a short report with related articles on a topic. Let’s say you have 10 articles on list building. You can create a list building report and sell it as a Warrior Special Offer or use it to build a list using giveaways, joint ventures, article marketing etc.

3) Edit them and submit them as a press release. Of course, your article has to be written in ‘press release’ style. Then you have a press release cum advertorial kind of thing – you can tell potential customers about your latest product as well as informing them through the info in your article.

4) Following on from the advertorial theme, you can use these articles as ads on Craigslist or US Free Ads. Use them to educate and get traffic.

5) You can post them at forums as replies to posts or create new threads with the article in them. But don’t over-do this.

6)You can use them as ‘Answers’ at Yahoo Answers. You can take the first part of your article and submit it as an answer and link back to the complete article. This gives a sort of incomplete answer which will get you more clickthroughs.

Those are 6 powerful ideas you can run with. All that’s left is to take massive action!

Making your Marketing Clear

October 13, 2008 by admin

Seth Godin has a fabulous point here – how many of you have ever thought about the way you speak about where you are going?

As Seth says, the same applies to business. This is a fantastic way of talking about how important it is to be clear in your marketing – especially with the group of people you are talking to…

Making it real by making it closer

Items in the future are closer than they appear.

If you’re going across town, you’re very specific: “188 Fifth Avenue, on the east side of the street please.”

On the other hand, when you go on vacation, you tell people, “I’m going to Paris,” not “we’re going to 8 rue du Cherche-Midi.” And if you’re going even farther than that, you skip the city and country altogether and just say, “we’re going to Africa.” One day, Richard Branson will take you all the way to Mars–all you get is the name of the planet.

This makes sense, of course. We don’t need to know which crater you’re going to, just that it’s far away.

Marketers spend a lot of time describing a future and making it real. The more general you are in describing it, the farther away people imagine it is. “We’re going to launch a new product next year” sounds a lot more distant than handing someone a prototype and saying, “this launches on January 3rd at 2 pm at CES.”

Short version: If you want people to embrace your version of the future, talk about it like it’s right around the corner, not on another planet.

Successful Marketing Ideas

By Kevin D Browne

The search for successful marketing ideas is, happily, an endless one. And there are many opportunities to learn from the search as the days turn into weeks which evolve into months.

And while great direct marketing specialists and webmasters with superior internet marketing ploys that they use on every occasion, sometimes the most successful marketing ideas are the simplest ones. Like quick thank you notes, and telephone calls and emails making sure clients and customers are ‘all set’ and have no needs at the moment.

When businesses figure out that customers are long term investments that need to be ‘watered’ in order to grow, they start putting on more of a human face. More of the human touch, even for the biggest of companies, does wonders from a perception versus reality framework.

So while there will now always be a need for the less human marketing devices (like the autoresponder and the email and the internet and the old Blackberry) it is more and more true that companies are figuring out (on their search) that the most successful marketing ideas all have fingerprints to them.

More real handwriting on sales letters. More open invitations to stop by the corporate environment to see how things really run. More honest exposure. All of which allows the company to be seen as real, and living and breathing.

Crossing the boundary from cold calculating monolith to understanding entity is one of the MOST successful marketing ideas there ever was…and ever will be.

Don’t be afraid to go and visit the web sites of many of the Fortune 100 companies and verify that what I’m saying is happening more and more every day. And what a great thing that is!

Marketing Ideas

I’ve been reading quite a few articles lately and have come across some information about starting a blog, starting your own newsletter and doing some article marketing. All of these are great marketing ideas to use, but are they for you?

Tracey Lawson outlines the pros and cons of each:

Create a Blog

Pros

  • You can really show off your expertise by posting on a regular basis.
  • Blog posts don’t need to be very long – approx. 200-350 words.
  • If you have some important information to share, you can instantly create a post – no waiting for your next newsletter to make your announcement!
  • If you use a blogging platform such as WordPress, this is hosted on your website. Each time you post to your blog you are creating fresh content for your website, which the search engines love!

Cons

  • You need to post regularly – at least once a week – in order for this to be an effective marketing strategy.
  • You need to feel confident that you will be able to write fresh content regularly.
  • It can be difficult to build a direct relationship with your reader.

Publish an Ezine

Pros

  • Unlike a blog, readers sign up to receive your newsletter so you already have a connection with them.
  • You can build a relationship with your newsletter reader and encourage one-on-one communication.
  • You can go into more depth in your newsletter article than you can with your blog posts.
  • Your clients/target audience can get to know you through your newsletter.

Cons

  • You have to make a commitment to publish on a regular basis, otherwise your subscribers will see you as unreliable, and may even forget about you!
  • There is more work involved in putting together a newsletter than writing a simple blog post.
  • You will need to subscribe to one of the ezine distribution services – I strongly recommend you do this and not send your ezine via your email client!

Article Marketing

Pros

  • If you are already blogging or publishing a newsletter, you have your articles written.
  • It is highly likely that once you submit your article to one of the article submission sites, it will be picked up and published on other article submission sites.
  • Regularly submitting your articles will elevate you to ‘expert’ status within your field/niche.

Cons

  • You have to write the articles if you’re not publishing a newsletter or posting to a blog.
  • It takes time to manually research suitable article submission sites and submit articles.
  • In order for this strategy to be effective, you have to submit your articles regularly – at least once a month.

Conclusion: You can just pick one strategy to focus on, or you can do all three! Whichever one you choose make sure it’s the right one for you. The key is to be consistent in your approach. If you decide to go with a blog make sure you have the time and motivation to add new posts regularly – at least once a week. Don’t start a newsletter if you know you won’t be able to keep to a regular publishing schedule! And for article marketing to be effective you need to submit articles on a regular basis.
